FAQs

Dog

How long will my dog's groom take?

We give a 2-3 hour window for all grooming appointments and will call/text half an hour before the service is complete to notify you of pick-up. Please avoid showing up early as this can excite your dog and make it difficult to complete the groom.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice from the day of your appointment for all cancellations in order to avoid a fee equalling the cost of your dog's groom.

We understand that last minute emergencies do arise but ask that you please notify us as soon as possible to give us the best chance of working with you. If you do not call and do not show up for your appointment, you will be required to settle the balance before booking your next appointment.

How do you determine pricing?

Many factors go into the final price of a groom.

Our pets come in all different shapes/sizes/temperaments and some may require more or less grooming time than others for various reasons.

The cost of your pet’s groom is based on the current condition they present in and how much time it will take us to complete. So if they’ve grown an extra thick coat, have gotten larger, or their behaviour has changed in a way that requires more care the price of your groom may increase.

We will always do our best to give you an accurate price when you present your dog for its appointment, however circumstances may arise during the process that change the cost of your dog's groom. We promise to notify you of these changes as soon as possible to avoid any surprises at pick-up.

How do I avoid matting in my dog's fur?

Maintaining a coat free of matting and other debris is the first step in making sure that your dog is comfortable both at home and in the salon.

To avoid matting between grooming sessions it essential that you comb and brush your dog thoroughly on a regular basis to keep tangles from forming. Removing any collars, harnesses and clothing from your dog at home may help to avoid rubbing that can cause matting around the chest and neck.

If your dog swims we recommend you dry them thoroughly and make sure that you are brushing to the skin as water is a major culprit for summertime tangles.

Staying on a consistent grooming schedule of 4-6 weeks is very important if you prefer your dog to have a fuller, fluffy coat. We are always happy to help you pick out the best brushing tools for your dog and give you any tips and tricks to make sure your dog's coat stays tangle free.

How can I help my dog be less nervous in the salon?

Your dog's relationship with its groomer will be one of the most important relationships in their life, and you can help this relationship flourish by teaching them that the salon can be their happy place.

Confidence Is Key!

How you interact with your groomer and frequency of appointments will determine your dog's feelings towards the grooming experience. Dogs who visit the salon as puppies, and then on a consistent schedule, become comfortable with their groomer and see it as a day being pampered rather than something scary and out of the ordinary.

Dogs are very quick to pick up on emotional cues, meaning if they feel stress or unease from their owners it often rubs off on them. To avoid this try your best to be confident when visiting the salon, avoid acknowledging any nervous behaviours your dog may present and interact with your groomer in a positive way.

If your dog needs a little extra help getting used to the salon, they are always welcome to stop by for an extra treat for some positive reinforcement!
